The short version: everything you copy stays on your Mac. PasteBuddy never sends your clipboard to us or anyone else. We only see the details you give when you buy it or email us.
Who we are
PasteBuddy is made by Surendra Pandar, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the PasteBuddy Mac app and the website at pastebuddy.app. For anything about your data, contact surendrapandar.work@gmail.com.
Your clipboard history
Your clipboard history never leaves your Mac. Everything PasteBuddy captures (text, links, code, images, screenshots and file references) is stored in a database in your Mac's Application Support folder. It is never uploaded, synced or shared. The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
PasteBuddy doesn't save clipboard items that other apps mark as concealed or transient (as password managers do), and it never records anything copied in apps you exclude. You can pause recording, delete single items or clear your whole history at any time. Deleting the app and its folder in ~/Library/Application Support removes everything.
Accessibility permission is used only to press ⌘V for you when you choose a clip to paste. PasteBuddy doesn't read your keystrokes or screen.
What the app sends over the internet
- License activation. When you activate, check or deactivate a license, the app sends your license key and your Mac's name to Dodo Payments, which issued the key.
- Update check. About once a day the app downloads a small file from pastebuddy.app to see if a newer version exists. Like any web request, this includes your IP address. Nothing about you or your clipboard is sent.
When you buy PasteBuddy
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, who act as the Merchant of Record: they process your payment, collect sales tax or VAT, and send your receipt and license key. Your card details go straight to Dodo Payments and are never seen or stored by us. Dodo Payments shares with us what we need to fulfil and support your order: your name, email address, country, the amount paid and a payment ID. See the Dodo Payments privacy policy.
The website
We use privacy-friendly analytics (Umami and DataFast) to count visits, downloads and purchases in aggregate. They don't track you across other sites or sell data. After checkout, the email address and payment ID in the return link are removed before anything is recorded.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and time of request) for a short period to keep the site secure and working.
When you email us
We receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and use it only to reply and help you.
How we use your information
- To deliver your license and help if you lose it.
- To answer support requests and handle refunds.
- To keep records required for tax and accounting.
- To understand, in aggregate, how people find and use this website.
Our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests (support and improving the site) and our legal obligations (tax records). We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers named above (Dodo Payments, our analytics providers, and our hosting and email providers), each of which processes data only to provide its service, or where required by law. Some are based outside your country, including in the United States; where that happens, they are bound by appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
Purchase records are kept for as long as tax law requires, usually up to seven years. Support emails are kept while they're useful and then deleted. Website analytics are kept in aggregate only.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California privacy law), you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email surendrapandar.work@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
PasteBuddy isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change significantly affects information you've already given us, we'll let you know by email.
